Lady Luck

Dice are used in a lot of tabletop games, the most well known of these is probably Snakes and Ladders. But the game that I use this set of dice for is Dungeons and Dragons.

     Dungeons and Dragons is a fantasy, adventure, role-playing tabletop game where the world is created and controlled by the Dungeon Master and the players use their imagination and creativity to do what they will in that world. The dice in Dungeons and Dragons control the element of luck and chance; whether you hit an enemy and how hard you hit them, whether you make the leap across a spiked pit safely, whether that disease you contracted gets worse and whether you live to see another round or die.

     For me the dice are important because they let me play Dungeons and Dragons. As an artist it’s important for me to be able to play this game because it is the only other activity apart from Art, that I’ve found so far, where your imagination is the only limit. We all remember when we were children and we kept ourselves amused for hours playing with our stuffed animals, action figures or dinosaurs. All we had was our imagination and inanimate objects and I think that a lot of artists, like myself, wish to get back to that limitless state of imagination of a child. Dungeons and Dragons helps me do that and this set of dice allows me to experience that world once more.
